Dr. Murat BAYIZIT

Biography

Dr. Murat Bayizit is the Managing Director of Tioga Foods Ltd, based in London, United Kingdom, and the founder of Kaledonya, a leading frozen food company in Türkiye. Born in 1972 in Bursa, he is a descendant of a Balkan-rooted family that migrated from Thessaloniki in 1924. He completed his secondary education at Bursa Erkek Lisesi and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Food Engineering and a Master’s degree from the Institute of Science at Uludağ University. He later completed his PhD in Agricultural Economics at the same university.

Actively involved in food trade since the age of ten, Dr. Bayizit has spent the past 30 years managing his own businesses in the international frozen food sector. Under the Tioga Foods brand in London and Kaledonya in Türkiye, he has built a strong presence across global markets, supplying a wide range of clients with high-quality frozen products.

In addition to his entrepreneurial success, Dr. Bayizit is a committed civil society leader who views agriculture as a matter of national security. Over the past 15 years, he has held senior executive roles in several NGOs, chambers, and business councils. He currently serves as the Vice President of the Assembly and Chairman of the Foreign Trade Council at the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he works to inspire entrepreneurs and promote sustainable food systems and international trade.

As the Founding President of the Turkish Frozen Food Association and the leader of the Bursa Frozen Food Cluster, Dr. Bayizit has played a pivotal role in developing Türkiye’s capacity in frozen food production and export. He is also a respected speaker and contributor to national and international media on agriculture-related issues and has travelled to over 100 countries in his capacity as an exporter and thought leader.

Dr. Bayizit is married with two children. He speaks English fluently and currently resides in London.
